Did you know that the Bible calls you an "Alien"?

I'm pretty sure aliens have green skin.  Their eyes are solid black and oval-shaped.  Also, they only have three long spindly fingers.  To get around they ride in flying saucers.  And, most importantly they clearly are NOT of this world.

Nevertheless, the disciple Peter twice calls us aliens.  The Greek word he uses means, 'a sojourner in the strange place'.  It means that if you are a Christian and seek to live by God's word and with a biblical worldview you will feel out of place, out of sorts, and uncomfortable in this present place where we now reside.

I have never felt this more than last week when I spoke on the subject of homosexuality and gay marriage.  I am such an alien.  So out of sorts.   So not with modern thinkers and other educated folks.  I am reminded nearly every day how off the beaten path I am.  I feel like I must be from Mars.  To believe the Bible's teachings on this subject has put me into the category of caveman theologian.  Or, so it feels.

Do you feel it coming?  It's a tidal wave of worldview and world opinion that has fundamentally changed everything!

Actually, there's a big part of me that enjoys it because it puts me into some pretty good company. . .at least 2,000 years ago when a man named Jesus walked this earth then rose from the dead.  The One whom I call my Savior, Lord and Redeemer.

If you are feeling more and more out of place and out of step, maybe it's not you.  Maybe it's God working in your heart and mind.

Romans 12:2 Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. NLT

Ephesians 4:14 Then we will no longer be immature like children.  We won't be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching.  We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like truth.  15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.  NLT
